James Gang Rides Again Mfsl Sacd

  1. Whatsoever reviews of The Knack or James Gang SACDs out in that location?
  2. gkella

gkella Let there be songs to fill the air

My Holy ?Grail SACD arrived today.
I am in the center of my offset listen.
It is through my Beyerdynamic Amiron Home Headphones.
    So far blown away.
My first impression was what an improvement in the bass...astounding sounding.
Only, information technology isn't just the bass, the percussion, JW's guitar, the vocals......
    All audio incredible.
One of my acme five albums of all fourth dimension just got better.
  3. Tell the states, please, does the Bomber have Bolero?
  4. gkella

gkella Permit there be songs to fill up the air

The instrumental break on my redbook cd starts at the 1:33 mark (approximately) and ends at
    the 4:30 mark.
On the SACD the break starts at the 1:33 mark and ends at the v:50 mark !!!!
A full minute plus longer !!!!
  5. Fine and dandy only you forgot to mention the of import stuff ;)
    1. Who mastered the James Gang SACD?
    2. Booklet or no booklet?

Glad you are enjoying it, mine is somewhere between Chicago and here.
  6. gkella

gkella Let there exist songs to fill the air

    No booklet.
Mastered by Rob LoVerde at MFSL, Sebastopol , CA.
The Bomber clocks in at 7:04, according to the album listing.
Bolero is mentioned in the song listings as part of the medley.
    A Closet Queen
    B Bolero
    C Cast Your Fate.

    Past the manner,
    I got number 185.
Lowest number I have ever gotten on ane of these.

  7. Another ane for the wishlist. Thanks @gkella ! All I take is the Bolero-less BGO CD, which I won in a drawing, here on the forum.
  8. Woo-Hoo!!! :pineapple:
  9. I haven't seen this mentioned in this thread, simply I may have missed information technology - Music Directly said in an email that the SACD is limited to 2000 and the vinyl limited to 4000. The Procol Harum is too express to 2000 SACD and the vinyl to 3000. Many of the other MoFi, 2017 releases volition be limited to the 2000/3000 numbers also. Music Directly has the pressing limits in their preorder descriptions. While not at the level of demand of the MoFi i-Step releases, those are even so actually low numbers pressed and I would consider preordering. The 1990's MFSL pressings were limited to 5000 and those have actually appreciated in value. Something to ponder every bit these will be fifty-fifty more limited.
  10. Co-ordinate to Music Straight, the The James Gang Rides Again SACD is limited to 3,000: The James Gang - Rides Again (Numbered Hybrid SACD) | Store Music Direct
I may have misread your post, but I thought it suggested that the SACD would exist only 2000. Three chiliad is as lot more than than 2,000, but yes, it is still limited.
  11. I only intendance about the music. Probably a good thought because how many of some of their releases are even so sitting bachelor.
  12. ImportCDs taking preorders.
  13. Saw an advertizement (preorder) for the Mofi 180g vinyl James Gang "Rides Again". Wonder how this will compare to the original Monarch pressing.
  14. That is correct. Though still limited, they are pressing more than of both the SACD and the 180 gram vinyl of the James Gang than they are other limited releases. The James Gang is 3000/4000 (SACD/Vinyl) while other limits like Procol Harum are 2000/3000. Other titles are likewise as limited, so information technology pays to research the MoFi 2017, TBA (Preorder) releases on Music Direct's site.
Total disclosure - I do speculate on a few vinyl releases every yr; but whether yous are approaching these releases as a listener simply or as a listener/speculator, a few of the MoFi titles may be curt-lived at the initial retail pricing. For case, the limited run Jerry Garcia and David Grisman Shady Grove has appeared on the most popular Music Direct search list for the last two weeks. I have learned to wait for a number of indicators before speculating on vinyl, and a few of these express run MoFi releases qualify. Many of the more pregnant, 2017 MoFi releases do not appear to have limited runs like Dire Straits and Derek and the Dominos. You tin can never accuse MoFi of not knowing their market.
  15. Thanks. Best cost I've seen so far, even with the shipping added. I guess it will come down on Amazon (now at $39.99) but who knows how much so I went for it on ImportCDs ($28.25 total).
  16. I would capeesh it if others who receive their SACDs in the next couple of days would mail service their impressions. I have no problem hearing the improvement in Steven Wilson's piece of work on Yes and Jethro Tull, just I sometimes can't discover much difference in certain other reissues. The first side of this album is by far my favorite -- the whole album is stellar, but I like the riffy rock stuff, Funk 49, Woman, The Bomber, etc. I don't really care who improves an album such equally this, simply I wonder why Sound Fidelity doesn't or can't get such titles as this -- in the history of rock, this album is 1 of the fifty best of all time, and information technology has never before received the attention information technology deserves.

At that place are dozens more in this category . . . I won't repeat 'em hither.

  17. gkella

gkella Permit at that place be songs to make full the air

I have to tell you what this ended up costing me as a poor neighbor to the north.
I also ordered Surrealistic Pillow at the same time.
    2 SACD's at 29.99 each......
    Fed Ex shipping approximately 26.00.
    Totaled around 86.00.
Conversion to Canadian Funds... we are now at 116.07 Canadian.
Fed Ex shows up at my door and demands another 22.00 for duty, etc.
    $138.00 Canadian !!!!!!!
    Glen
  18. I always social club mine through MoFi; which is Music Direct.
  19. I gotta know.....I can't exhale.
  20. I thought music goods were exempt from those duty taxes. At that place was a discussion on this up hither somewhere, someone got charged customs for Fedex for a CDjapan society, just they were able to get that rescinded. Worked that way for Japan to USA anyway, only could accept naught to do with your situation (??).
  21. Nothing to do with up here. We tin can get striking for HST tax (thirteen%) which is bad enough but on occasion we pay an additional handling fee especially if a courier is involved. Sometimes they volition also include the aircraft cost for tax calculation.

Some packages get through without taxes just you never know.

  22. Yup. That'due south exactly why I only order through people that ship USPS. International Couriers hit united states of america way too hard up hither. Simply not worth it.
    Dave and formu_la like this.
  23. I have heard stories where the courier fees were higher than the item cost. It is nice to live in a edge town, I don't take to bargain with that BS.
